The Selftape Series consists of stand alone episodes, following the arduous process of self taping your acting skills. The series is written and directed by Joos Gommans, produced by Linda Castelijns.
It always starts the same way.
Someone presses record. A camera is adjusted. An actor takes a breath and begins their casting tape. And then life gets in the way. A partner walks in. A conversation takes an unexpected turn. Nerves take over. Old frustrations surface. Plans unravel. What begins as a straightforward audition slowly becomes something else entirely.
Each episode follows a different selftape, with new characters, new circumstances, and new surprises. The actors arrive prepared to perform, but end up revealing far more than they intended. Sometimes the result is funny, sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes unexpectedly tender.
But beneath these seemingly separate auditions runs a larger story. Connections emerge. Lives intersect. Small moments echo across episodes. What first appears to be a collection of casting tapes gradually reveals itself as a single narrative.
The only constant is the camera, quietly recording as the line between performance and reality begins to blur.
Because making a selftape is easy. Being yourself in front of a camera is much harder.
